12:38a - posting from irvine
it was decided as i was obssessively feeding my news junkie-ness today, just as the evac areas started to move closer to 8, that i was prolly better off leaving and heading up to my brother's place in irvine than wait for any evac notice.
considering where i am, right smack in central san diego city, literally down the street from the stadium (which is another huge evac point), if the evac notice was to come, it would be clusterf*ck to get out.
and as of afternoon today, it was clustef*ck to get TO the stadium.
so i packed stuff into car and headed up.
traffic on 5 was pretty non existant. i made good time up the freeway.
landscape= grey ..grey..grey.. oh HUGE dark plumes of smoke.. grey..grey.. more smoke.. and grey... grey... (you get the idea)
i chilled out at south coast plaza. they had a free wifi point. checked up on more fire news to feed my inner news junkie. and then met up with some doods for dinner.
i wanted to go to shinshengumi for lunch, but i guess i was too late (i arrived at FV ~1430h). i then headed to marukai thinking i could get a bowl of ramen there, but noooo it changed vendors. and theres a beard papa there now too ;0
sd announced all schools and courts closed until next monday. work has closed again for wed (tmr) i'm thinking that it will prolly also close thurs and maybe friday, depending on how the fire and air quality goes.
plan i guess will be head back down prolly thursday-ish? depending on how the fires go. hopefully i dont have to stay for teh weekend. o.O
edit 102407 0900h: hmm the fire by palomar and witch fire merged. pendleton fire went from 600+acre (i think that was the number?) last night to 6k acre when i woke up. WTF!! 5North closed. kinda feel better about leaving sd yesterday. @.@
10242007 2245h: looks like the weather is looking up. i'm heading back to san diego tomorrow. whee.
